Good Morning Britain star Alex Beresford has spoken out after his tense face-off with Piers Morgan on Tuesday's show.
The weatherman joined Piers, Susanna Reid and Dr Hilary Jones on the main desk on the ITV show this morning as they discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers and Alex had previously disagreed with each other over their views on Meghan but things boiled over on Tuesday leading to Piers storming off the GMB set.
Alex called out Piers for his behaviour towards the Duchess of Sussex as 'absolutely diabolical' but Piers' reaction came after Alex said: "And I understand you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off.
"She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has but yet you continue to trash her..."
Piers then stood up and said as he moved from the desk: "OK, I'm done with this" and walked off set, saying: "Sorry, no... sorry, can't do this..."
Piers eventually returned after co-host Susanna Reid introduced a break but the tension was still high between Piers and Alex as the GMB host snubbed his co-star as he introduced another debate - forcing Susanna to introduce Alex.
Good Morning Britain viewers have heavily praised Alex for standing up to Piers and now he has spoken out for the first time since the on-air confrontation.
"I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence," he began his tweet on Tuesday afternoon.
"In order for me to do that I would have to strip myself of my identity and that's not something I can do. It's not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us to feel more comfortable."
The tweet has already seen tens of thousands of people respond with messages and likes.
"He’s easily become one of my favourite people. Big up Alex," wrote one.
Another said: "You absolutely nailed it. Props.."
"Alex Beresford is my new hero," a third added.
