Good Morning Britain star Alex Beresford has predicted that the UK will be back in full lockdown by November.
It comes after Boris Johnson announced that almost all Covid-19 restrictions will be axed on July 19 – including legal requirements such as face masks and social distancing.
The announcement comes as part of the final step of the roadmap for lifting lockdown restrictions in England.
While some people have rejoiced in the fact life will soon be back to normal again, other have condemned the government’s decision to move so quickly as cases continue to rise across the nation.
And Good Morning Britain host Alex is the latest celebrity to hit back at Boris Johnson’s announcement.
Taking to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter, the TV star predicted that the UK will be in its fourth full lockdown by November as all restrictions are scrapped.
“No quarantine from an amber list country after 19th July,” the star tweeted.
“Is lockdown 4.0 about to be commissioned?
“Due for early release in November.”
In another tweet, Alex also questioned whether or not travellers could potentially bring back new variants to the UK after their getaways.
“With travel to Amber list countries not requiring quarantine for double jabbed people, it is possible someone could bring in a new variant,” he wrote.
“The vaccine doesn’t protect you from catching the virus, it reduces your chances of hospitalisation. You could still pass it on.
“If the vaccine doesn’t protect from a new variant, we could see ourselves in another lockdown.”
Alex went on: “I’m super excited that our country is getting back to normal in the coming days I just don’t want to lose that ‘freedom’ because we didn’t protect our borders.”
The government expects to push ahead with step four of its lockdown-lifting roadmap on 19 July, when Boris Johnson wants to move away from a regimented regime in a bid to manage the coronavirus pandemic.
Instead, people in England will be encouraged to use their personal judgement on the risks of infection - with the prime minister wishing to see a new way of living with the virus.
