GMB's Alastair Campbell under fire after stunning Susanna Reid with rant

Alastair Campbell has come under fire from Good Morning Britain after entering into a rant on the show.

The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Tuesday alongside Susanna Reid.

And he stunned his co-host by blasting Boris Johnson over his lack of appearances on the show.

It came after Ranvir Singh revealed she had been blanked by the Prime Minister as she reports live from the Conservative Party conference in Manchester.

The TV presenter attempted to call Mr Johnson over as he passed her inside the Manchester Central Convention Complex.

While he did respond to her call out, he only offered a wave - despite not being on the show for an interview for 1,563 days.

After showing a clip of the moment, Alastair launched into a scathing attack on the PM.

"You bet, you bet," he began. "1,563 days. I mean look, you're not allowed to use the c-word on this programme but the guy is a coward.

"And he is a charlatan."

Susanna appeared surprised by her co-hosts comments, leading to Alastair asking her: "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, no I'm just listening," Susanna replied.

"Do you agree he's a coward?" he then asked.

Susanna remained diplomatic and responded: "Well, it would be lovely to have him on the programme this morning. That's what I'll say.

"A warm invitation to you Prime Minister, I'm sure you're watching this morning. We'd very much like to talk to you."

But GMB viewers were left divided.

"I'm not sure Alastair Campbell is the right person for #GMB Shouldn't the presenter be neutral?" one asked.

Another said: "I won't agree with everything @BorisJohnson does or says but to publicly humiliation calling him a coward is just damn right disgusting, surely a journalist/reporter/broadcaster should be neutral #GMB."

"Alastair Campbell on fire today on @GMB," a third said.

A fourth added: "Alastair ,what a great partnership you make with Susanna.. @GMB please make it permanent!"
