GMB's Adil Ray reacts to Meghan Markle's book after Piers Morgan rant

Good Morning Britain hosts Adil Ray and Susanna Reid discussed Meghan Markle's new children's book The Bench on Wednesday's show.

The discussion came after former GMB presenter Piers Morgan mocked the new book, which is about the relationship between fathers and sons, questioning whether it was "a joke" on Twitter. You can read more here.

Asked about his opinion on the Duchess of Sussex's novel, Adil said: "I think it's great! I think it's fantastic.

"I think it's a great story, it's a great idea about the father and son relationship. Often when we think about children's books we think about the mother and daughter. In these times, it's quite interesting.

"I think it's clearly going to be personal because it will be her relationship with her own son and Harry. I think it's fantastic, it's positive. I think it's a great thing. I hope it does very well.

He added: "What's more to say about it? Why would you knock it? Why would anybody knock it?"

Nodding, Susanna responded and said: "Absolutely right!"

Laughing, their co-host then added: "You're sort of flabbergasted to have somebody alongside you who's in praise of Meghan Markle's book. You're just speechless, aren't you Susanna?"

Meghan announced her new book yesterday, she said in a statement: "The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born.

"That poem became this story. My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine."

The picture book, published by Random House Children's Books, has been illustrated by award-winning artist Christian Robinson, and the audiobook is narrated by the Duchess of Sussex. You can read more about it here.
