GMB's Adil Ray calls Kate Garraway an 'inspiration' as she shares update on husband

Adil Ray praised Kate Garraway for her "grace" while dealing with the aftermath of her husband's coronavirus diagnosis.

The Good Morning Britain presenter branded his co-host an "inspiration".

Kate's husband Derek Draper was taken to hospital on March 29 after struggling to breathe, with doctors eventually putting him in an induced coma on April 5.

Mum-of-two Kate offers updates on her husband Derek's condition as he continues to lie in a minimally-conscious state following his battle with coronavirus.

On Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Adil praised the way Kate has coped with her husband's illness and said she was an "inspiration".

The presenters were discussing the NHS' recent pleas for Covid-19 plasma donors.

The NHS needs people who have recovered from coronavirus to donate blood plasma as part of a clinical trial which aims to help with the national effort against the deadly virus.

The trial will provide evidence on how effective convalescent plasma - which is plasma from people who have had coronavirus - is for treating coronavirus patients.

Adil then asked how Derek was doing.

Though Derek has now tested negative for coronavirus, he remains very ill.

Kate confirmed he is "stable" and said: "I'm learning, Adil, that stable is sometimes good."

She added: "A none down day is something to celebrate today as well."
