GMB releases 'powerful' new video supporting 'kings of England' after team faced abuse following Euros loss

Good Morning Britain has shared a 'powerful' new video to show 'hate will not win' after the England football team faced abuse after Euro 2020 defeat.

The Three Lions made it to their first major tournament final in 55 years.

But after leading for much of the game, Italy leveled and forced the game into extra time and to dreaded penalties and Gareth Southgate's side then suffered heartbreak as their opponents won 3-2.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka were then subject to vila racial abuse online after they missed their penalties in the crucial moments of Sunday's game.

The disgusting behaviors has led to arrests and the government vowed to extend football banning orders to cover online abuse.

On Friday's GMB, a video has now been shared which supports the 'kings of England' featuring a voiceover from the show's weather presenter Alex Beresford.

"So while we continue this journey, and we try to unite as one," he says in the video which features moments from England's 2020 campaign as well as GMB's presenters speaking out on their own experiences of racial abuse.

"We stand with our kings of England and tell everyone that hate has not won," he adds as pictures of the outpouring of support from Rashford's mural in Withington is flashed upon the screen.

Sharing the video on Twitter, GMB said: "Win together. Lose together. We all stand together."

Billboards have now been erected across the country with that same message - including at the Printworkd in Manchester City Centre - with a black and white image of the England squad huddled tightly together.

"Win together. Lose together. We all stand together against racism," Kate Garraway said on Friday's show.

"Across the country we have billboards with that message," Charlotte Hawkins added.

"Hate will not win," Kate said.

Alex also tweeted the video and said: "Honour to read these powerful words written by my amazing colleague Verina Burt and grateful that we @GMB are trying to make positive change. Racism in sport, on our streets and online must stop…"

The message has reached a billboard at the Printworks (ITV)

The move has been praised by viewers.

"This is such a powerful piece. Thank you for this. We all stand together," tweeted one.

Another said: "Fantastic! Well done GMB!"

"Those ‘All Stand Together’ posters have made me feel very emotional this morning #gmb," a third added.
