ITV Good Morning Britain gets 1,400 Ofcom complaints over Dr Hilary's Covid leaflet warning

Good Morning Britain has been criticised for a section of the ITV show when Dr Hilary Jones discussed the coronavirus yellow card reporting system.

Dr Hilary described new leaflets that are being posted into people's homes about the risks of the Covid-19 vaccine as "complete misinformation".

There have since been 1,428 Ofcom complaints, reports the Liverpool Echo.

While talking to the show's hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid he said that the hoax yellow leaflets could be dangerous.

He said: "Beware of bogus letter drops, which are complete nonsense. This is complete misinformation."

He explained how the yellow leaflet has been made and designed to look like an official and genuine leaflet from the government.

"It looks like a government UK yellow card reporting scheme for adverse reactions to any kind of medicines or vaccines."

Dr Hilary also told Richard, Susanna and the viewers that the bad reactions from the vaccine that the leaflet is advertising is fake.

"But this purports to talk about all sorts of adverse reactions to vaccines, which are completely bogus and hoax," he said.

Ofcom has not yet stated if an investigation has been launched into the discussion or the segment.

Elsewhere on GMB, Kate Garraway's phone went off twice during one interview and earlier this week Dr Hilary blasted Prime Minister Boris Johnson for not wearing a mask in a hospital.

Good Morning Britain is on every weekday from 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
