GMB Piers Morgan responds to rumours he could run for Prime Minister

Piers Morgan has responded to claims he could run for Prime Minister.

The outspoken Good Morning Britain presenter discussed The Daily Star's front page which calls for the 55-year-old to take up residence at Number 10.

In a poll on the official Good Morning Britain Twitter page, social media users can vote on whether they believe Piers should be the next Prime Minister.

At the time of writing, 61.6% of voters said no.

Piers quipped: "We're running a poll - well it's been hijacked by my enemies and Good Morning Britain viewers desperate for me not to leave."

Co-host Susanna Reid said: "If you go to Number 10, you leave here."

Piers said: "I'll get stuff done, this is what we need, a bit of straight-talking, no nonsense."

Piers also said he would call out "clowns".

Later, he held up the front page and dubbed it his "favourite" while Susanna said: "God help us all."

She then said: "If you ever become Prime Minister, I'm getting on a yacht and going to the South of France."

The majority of social media users agreed with Susanna and didn't want the presenter to become the next PM, with more than 60% voting against him on Twitter.

Prior to the discussion, Piers lamented about the monotony of life in lockdown, branding every day "the same". He said: "You wake up, you know you're not going to be doing anything."

But Susanna said "we're the lucky ones" because they get to go out and experience things through their work.

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am
