GMB in chaos as crew crawl on the floor in break over Bill Turnbull's lost earpiece

Good Morning Britain turned chaotic today after Piers Morgan's stand-in Bill Turnbull lost his earpiece in the break.

This led crew on the ITV news programme to drop to the floor as they frantically searched for the tiny object.

Over the last week, 64-year-old Bill has delighted viewers by returning to screens on GMB following his prostate cancer diagnosis in 2017 and reuniting with his former co-star Susanna Reid.

Yet today, Bill joked that he had had "one of those Wednesdays" after losing his contact lenses and earpiece.

The latter, Bill lost in one of his ad breaks and the team tried to search for it before they went on air again.

Co-host Susanna told viewers: "You know they call Wednesday hump day?

"Bill is really having one of those Wednesdays. You'd forgotten to put your teeth in and you were having trouble reading."

He quipped: "I hadn't got my contact lenses in, so I was having to wear glasses, then the earpiece popped out during the break."

The show then aired footage from earlier today as hoards of crew members rushed in to find the earpiece.

Susanna added: "If you think we staged this, we absolutely did not. This is what just happened during the break."

In the clip, Bill had joked to one producer: "Keep your hands to yourself! Delving into my pockets like that."

One crew member managed to eventually find it under Bill's script, prompting the presenter to exclaim: "How did it get there?!"
