Ranvir Singh questioned why they were debating whether it was "selfish" to buy a puppy in lockdown - after she had done so a month ago.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain with co-host Adil Ray, they announced a debate on "pandemic pets" with Love Island star Jordan Hames and Talia Storm.
Ranvir said: "As The Dogs Trust reports a 393% increase in enquiries about puppies between April and May, we're asking - well, I'm not asking because I already know the answer - the programme is asking if it is selfish to buy a pet during lockdown."
She added firmly: "Absolutely not, I don't understand why we're debating this. Adil?"
"Well, it's about everyone's got to be responsible, people can make immediate reactions," he began.
But Ranvir interjected: "No!"
He explained: "Someone tweeted me saying, actually one of the reasons people do get them is that they're missing that love and connection in lockdown.
"And there's no doubt that dogs do that - better than humans, to be honest."
Ranvir got a puppy for her family in June, who is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and miniature toy poodle mix.
The presenter shared a cute clip of her new biscuit-coloured puppy, who she's named Shmizzels, on Instagram.
She wrote: "I’m awake at 430am waiting for this little tinker to wee in the garden! So thought I’d post this video so you can see Shmizzels in all his tiny 9 week glory."
