GMB host Piers Morgan bitterly questions Susanna Reid's TV award success

He’s forever lamenting about the fact he deserves awards for his service to the broadcasting industry, so imagine Piers Morgan’s ire when it’s his co-star that gets the glory.

And Susanna Reid couldn’t help but rub it in the grumpy presenter’s face as she announced her double win at the Reality TV Awards 2019.

She picked up the accolades for Best TV Presenter and Best TV Personality, while Good Morning Britain scooped the prize for the Best Talk Show.

Susanna was clearly delighted at her achievements, and was more than happy to dial up the smug factor for the benefit of Piers.

But typically he had something to say about the issue, and had such a moan that viewers of the ITV breakfast show branded him “bitter”.

After footage of Susanna’s win was aired, Piers mocked her words in a high pitched voice as she rolled her eyes and said: “Frankly as you do all the talking, it's all down to you.”

This prompted Piers to continue his teasing with mock tears, hitting back with: "It's the only time I get to say anything.”

He then enquired: "How if you never say anything have you won celebrity personality of the year exactly?"

Susanna said she didn't know, but made a big deal of saying thank you to the awards ceremony.

Piers continued: "It's a miracle. Somehow, the woman who never says anything, is personality of the year. Amazing.

"You're like Kate Moss - actually she's from Croydon too. The silent but mysterious ones. The great personalities who never say anything because they're downtrodden and silenced by the men around them."

Susanna replied: "Aww thank you Piers."

Piers was not done - he then questioned the awards ceremony’s credibility.

Piers said: "It remains a mystery just exactly what these awards are. Or who organises them. Or what they are about. Or even how you vote.”

Bizarrely, he then dismissed GMB’s award - which he can at least jointly claim - by saying the programme should not have been up in the category.

Piers added: "I am about winning. Apparently we are the best talk show and I actually do a talk show and didn't even get nominated. This is not actually a talk show."

Never mind Piers, maybe next year.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
