If there’s one film character you don’t want to be compared to, it’s Austin Powers.
The awful teeth and questionable fashion sense may add to comedy value on screen, but they’re not qualities anyone wants for themselves.
Sadly for Kate Garraway, she came to the shock realisation today that she was the spit of the Mike Myers comedy character thanks to a clothing ensemble that probably shouldn't have seen the light of day.
It was her Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard that brought her the news that viewers on Twitter were "quite taken" with what she was wearing.
Mortified Kate shrieked, "it literally is Austin Powers" after being compared to the International Man of Mystery on a split screen.
Passing the buck to the costume department, Kate said: "Did they watch it last night on the move channel and think 'I know what I'll put Kate in tomorrow morning'?"
Charlotte Hawkins also got involved with the fun and suggested that they get Kate some big glasses.
Poor Kate has been on the end of a few japes this week - yesterday she not only got trapped in the GMB loo, but she also had to listen as Ben recounted seeing her boobs by accident 20 years ago.
Kate said: "Every day I think I’m not going to be the idiot of this show. I’m going to be the one who’s a proper grown up journalist.
"It's 18 minute passed 6am and I’m Austin Powers on a bike."
