GMB fans' uproar at Ranvir Singh's 'disgusting' comment about Strictly's Giovanni Pernice

Viewers tuning into Good Morning Britain on Thursday were not impressed as Ranvir Singh recalled her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

The mum-of-one competed in the BBC series in 2020 and was partnered with Italian professional Giovanni Pernice.

Ranvir and Giovanna were virtually reunited on Thursday as he appeared on GMB alongside Anton Du Beke to discuss their upcoming dance tour.

Of course, the conversation soon turned to Ranvir's stint on the BBC show and she made a rather shocking confession.

The 43-year-old presenter admitted that she asked the wardrobe department to remove Giovanni's cardigan before one performance because she wanted to be able to "feel his ribcage".

Discussing how the rumours started about them being closer than friends, she said: "Do you remember Giovanni when we were doing the American Smooth and you had a cardigan on?

"And I said to the wardrobe people, 'no take his cardigan off, I need to feel his ribcage'.

"That's where this all comes from! Isn't that right? I was like, 'no, change his clothes, needs to be thinner material'," Ranvir added whilst laughing.

Good Morning Britain viewers were shocked by her comment and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

"Imagine saying that you needed to feel a female contestants rib cage through thinner clothing, to get the intimacy of the dance vibe, as Ranvir just did about Giovanni..." one person posted.

Another viewer tweeted: "Disgusting Ranvir, You'd be kicking off if I asked a woman to change clothes so I could feel different parts of her against me. #gmb."

A third person added: "Imagine the uproar if a male presenter said he wanted a female dancer to remove more clothes so he could feel her rib cage # gmb."

Another viewer was fed up of hearing Ranvir talk about her Strictly stint and posted: " Jeez. More Ranvir banging on about Strictly on @GMB - change the record #GMB."

Earlier on in the show, Ranvir branded her co-host Ben Shephard a "wimp" for not signing up to Strictly after he joked that she had it easy on the show last year because there wasn't a live audience.
