GMB fans in a frenzy over Piers Morgan's replacement now he has quit the ITV show

Earlier this afternoon Piers Morgan decided to leave his role as host on ITV's Good Morning Britain.

The decision comes after Ofcom revealed that it had received more than 41,000 complaints over Morgan's claims he believed Meghan Markle had 'lied' about feeling suicidal.

Mental health charity Mind also chastised the presenter's comments, labeling them 'disappointing.'

The statement read: "We were disappointed and concerned to see Piers Morgan’s comments on not believing Meghan’s experiences about suicidal thoughts today.

"It’s vital that when people reach out for support or share their experiences of ill mental health that they are treated with dignity, respect and empathy. We are in conversations with ITV about this at the moment."

Now Piers has quit the ITV show.

ITV said in an official statement: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain."

"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

In light of the 55-year-old's departure, people have been questioning who will take his place, and many people are calling for weatherman Alex Beresford to take the helm after he condemned Piers' behaviour live on air.

"Alex the weatherman as Piers’ replacement pls and thanks," said one person.

Another wrote: "Alex would make a great replacement for Piers."

" @alexberesfordTV to replace @piersmorgan as full time GMB host. Make it happen #beresfordin #piersmorgan #GMB," demanded another fan.

"Maybe replace him with a kind, considerate man.. @alexberesfordTV," tweeted yet another fan of the weatherman.

Meanwhile, somebody else wrote: "Replace Piers Morgan with Trisha Goddard. I said what I said."
