GMB fans convinced Richard Madeley has been ‘axed’ as he ‘goes missing’ for seventh week

Good Morning Britain fans have been left convinced that regular host of the ITV morning programme Richard Madeley could have been axed from the programme.

The 66-year-old has been absent from his presenting duties on the show for seven weeks in a row, following the return of the regular presenting slate from their summer break.

Richard was last in the TV studio on August 10, when he became embroiled in a furious bust up with politician James Cleverly.

As Ed Balls helms the show alongside co-host Susanna Reid, one ITV viewer asked: “Where's Richard Madeley? Has he been given the boot by GMB? Not seen him for ages.”

A second savage fan wondered: “Has GMB finally dumped Richard Madeley? He’s not been around for ages. I really hope they have.”

“Has Madeley been sacked? Please tell me he has,” a third asked as another wrote: “Is Ben Shepherd considered the safer pair of hands than Madeley during this time for GMB? I can’t imagine they can afford another Madeley gaff as he makes it all about him.”

The broadcaster regularly divides opinion when he fronts the ITV breakfast show alongside Susanna, with viewers of the programme often comparing him to tactless radio host Alan Partridge, played by Steve Coogan.

This comes after Good Morning Britain fans were left confused as an episode aired on the weekend following Queen Elizabeth II's death on Thursday 8 September 2022.

Viewers of GMB were shocked when an extra episode aired with hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid.

ITV put on a special tribute episode where guests were brought on to talk about Her Majesty.

However, fans noticed that the show has not aired on a weekend before, saying it made 'history'.

Some took to Twitter to talk about their confusion, with one writing: “GMB On a Saturday This is history," as another said: "Strange watching GMB on a Saturday morning."

A third person commented: "So confused that gmb was on today."

While another said: "Weird seeing #GMB on a Saturday," and another added: "Woke up so b***** confused as to what day it was with GMB being on on a Saturday."

With a sixth saying: "What's this doing on on a saturday."

The programme was follower by an ITV news special programme ITV News: The Proclamation of the King along with continuous news coverage until 12.30pm.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
