GMB fans ask same question as hosts fail to address Phillip Schofield's This Morning axe

On Monday, Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley hosted Good Morning Britain but the pair failed to mention ITV stalwart Phillip Schofield's exit from This Morning.

At the beginning of Monday's show, Ranvir Singh briefly confirmed Phillip's exit as she read out the day's headlines.

She said: " Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will be hosting today’s This Morning following Phillip Schofield’s departure from the show.

"The presenter announced he was stepping down with immediate effect on Saturday after 21 years in the role. ITV has confirmed Holly Willoughby will continue to co-present with members of the This Morning family when she returns from break on June 5th."

GMB viewers spotted Phillip's exit was not addressed by the main presenters throughout the show and took to Twitter to comment.

One wrote: "So #GMB is going to spend hours over a speeding ticket when all newspaper front pages are about Phil," and another questioned: "You guys going to talk about why old Phil has left?"

A third said: "@GMB that was a pathetic snippet regarding #thismorning! Get it said and forgotten? Shame on you for that! #philschofield deserves far better from his #itv colleagues. #HollyWilloughby needs to go as well! Do you need reminding that #Lorraine celebrated Phil last year?"

"Usually tune in to the gmb for @Kevin_Maguire & @toryboypierce segment, but particularly today after one of the biggest stars on @itv @thismorning Phil Schofield quitting and there is no mention. Not even good luck Phil. Why? @susannareid100 @richardm56," another wrote:

"I see all GMB are saying about Schofield is a brief ‘Holly will continue hosting This Morning after Phillip left the show last week’. Where’s the discussion about why he’s left & the problematic rumours? You’d do it if it were anyone else #gmb #goodmorningbritain #Schofield," a fifth fumed.

Phillip has stepped down from This Morning (ITV)

In a statement released on Saturday, Phillip said: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.
