GMB doctor Sarah Jarvis warns against 'pointless' hack to cool down bedroom

Doctor Sarah Jarvis has told Good Morning Britain viewers that a well used method of trying to cool down your bedroom is pointless in the current climate.

On Tuesday, the health expert issued a warning to people thinking of putting their bed sheets in the freezer, telling them to be careful of ice burns and also advised taking a freezing cold shower before bed to try and cool down.

And this morning (Wednesday) she rendered another hack many people use as pretty useless at the minute, given that temperatures at night are just as high as during the day in many places in the UK right now.

Monday and Tuesday night were particularly muggy, meaning people faced a hot and miserable sleepless night and Dr Sarah said that a common hack of leaving windows and curtains and blinds closed until the temperature cools down a bit is pointless.

She told hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway: "For a lot of people the heatwave can be tricky, particularly at night.

"One big problem we have got is the temperature is not going down at night.

"Most people, even if they find it very hot during the day, we always say keep your curtains shut during the day and then as soon as it gets cooler, open your windows and curtains to cool things down.

"We can't really do that anymore as it is constantly so hot at night."

Dr Sarah has suggested putting a cool flannel around your neck as the best way to cool down.
