GMB doctor Sarah Jarvis reveals why bald men are at higher risk from coronavirus

Good Morning Britain health expert Sarah Jarvis had some alarming news for bald men when it comes to the risk posed to them by coronavirus.

Over the past few months, as the COVID-19 pandemic has spread across the world, experts have identified why BAME communities are more at risk of contracting the virus, with recent findings also showing a link between obesity and likelihood of contracting it.

And now it's tall men who are said to be at an increasing risk of being struck down by coronavirus, after a study, using data from 2,000 people in the UK and US showed men above 6ft were twice as likely to be diagnosed with it.

But, while she wasn't entirely convinced on that suggestion, Dr Jarvis said men with no hair may have cause for concern.

GMB host Ben Shephard remarked "surely whatever height you are you're going to be susceptible?" before asking her why men over 6ft are said to be more at risk, to which she replied: "This is an observational study, it hasn't been peer reviewed, all sorts of other things could be going on and that's why we always look very carefully at the science and don't draw too many conclusions.

"We know men are more likely to die than women are and we've also seen that men who are bald are at higher risk..we think that's possibly something to do with testosterone.

"But I have to say, just for a change, this is one that is very reassuring for me, 'cos people can describe me as many things but tall is not one of them."

Sceptical about the apparent link between being tall and a higher risk of coronavirus, one viewer tweeted: "it was bald men last month, wonder what it will be in August," while another reacted: "I am 6.2”... and losing my hair!! So according to this fine research I am screwed."
