GMB co-hosts joke they need to 'bolt the doors' as Piers Morgan returns to ITV

Good Morning Britain co-hosts joked they needed to "bolt the doors" as Piers Morgan made his return to ITV.

The television presenter is being interviewed by Lorraine on her show today in his first return to daytime since he decided to quit over a spat with Alex Beresford over the comments he made about Meghan Markle.

As GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Bacon crossed over to chat to Lorraine about what was coming up, they joked about her upcoming interview with Piers and said they needed to "bolt the doors" after he said he planned to storm the GMB studio.

As Lorraine spoke about reuniting with Piers, she said: "There's a small matter of that one there. Piers Morgan is in the building and hopefully he will stay for the whole interview, fingers crossed."

"We're going to have to go and find him, aren't we?" Kate said as she pulled a face.

Richard added: "We're told he might come to the studio, so I don't know if we've got a bolt for the door."

Lorraine then replied: "Lock the doors!"

Lorraine joked she hoped Piers wouldn't storm off this time (ITV)

Piers announced his return to ITV daytime this week in a post online.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "BREAKING: I’ll be returning to ITV tomorrow for first time since the Markle Debacle… live & definitely uncensored on ⁦@lorraine with the fabulous ⁦@reallorraine - should be fun…

"(May even storm back onto ⁦@GMB while I wait, & get those ratings back up.)"

At the time, his fans said they were looking forward to him making a return to the show, with one writing: "Not even bothered watching it since you left. No point. All my family are the same. They’ve all switched off too. We’ll be tuning in tomorrow though."

Piers famously walked off the GMB set (ITV)

"Hopefully Alex will be doing the weather, now that would be a good watch," a second added.

Piers recently described his Good Morning Britain exit as 'a farce' and said it was the best thing to happen.

"The whole thing was a farce," he said, "I'm delighted that as a result we've ended up with a whole network which is now dedicated to preventing that kind of farce from recurring. You shouldn't be shamed, vilified or cancelled for having an opinion."

Piers will be back on TV soon with his new Uncensored TalkTV show, which launches on 25 April.
