GMB bosses explain Piers Morgan's absence from the ITV show as he is replaced

Good Morning Britain viewers speculated over Piers Morgan 's absence from the show.

On Thursday, Ben Shephard was presenting alongside Susanna Reid and today the Tipping Point host was joined by Ranvir Singh.

This comes after Piers' interviews with political figures have drawn thousands of Ofcom complaints.

According to the Independent, Piers received more than 500 Ofcom complaints in a single week in May.

And his "combative" interviews with government ministers in April garnered 4,000 complaints.

More than 3,200 of the complaints about the host centred on interviews with Care Minister Helen Whately.

The presenter had accused the MP of laughing and smiling during the interview, which Ms Whately denied.

A further 600 complaints came after an interview with Health Secretary Matt Hancock, but Ofcom ruled no investigation was necessary in either cases.

However, his non-appearance has nothing to do with the complaints, and can be easily explained, reports the Mirror.

Before the nation went into lockdown, Piers only appeared on the show alongside Susanna on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Susanna then presented "Therapeutic Thursdays" with Ben, so-called because it was a relaxing break from Piers, and then on Fridays Ben would present with Kate Garraway.

However, Kate is understandably not working currently as she deals with her husband, Derek Draper's tough battle with coronavirus.

So to cover Kate, Political Editor Ranvir Singh has been standing in alongside Ben.
