GMB: Amy Hart opens up on how Caroline Flack helped her deal with trolls and death threats online

Former Love Island contestant Amy Hart has opened up about how Caroline Flack helped her deal with trolls and online abuse.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, the 26-year-old told presenters Adil Ray and Kate Garraway how the reality TV host would often offer support.

"She was amazing, from putting us all at ease from the first day," she said. "In the breaks between filming, she was like, 'You alright girls? You alright? You alright?'"

She recalled how Caroline helped her following her break-up with fellow islander Curtis Pritchard.

She recalled: "When I came out of Casa Amor, she was basically holding my hand, basically telling me to shut up because I was baring my soul when I really shouldn’t have been.

"Then, at Aftersun, she sat me down at the after-party and talked me through everything – how to move forward and what the industry’s like and she reached out to my best friend as well, to help her navigate the dark side of social media.

"My friend posted a post about the death threats I was receiving," added Amy. "And Caroline followed her to message her and be like, 'It's fine. Just ignore them and move on'."

Caroline was found dead in her London flat on Saturday (February 15) after ending her own life.

An inquest heard that the 40-year-old was found by her twin sister, Jody Flack, after a friend "popped out" to the shops.

When asked how she felt after hearing the tragic news, Amy told viewers: "I was gutted, really gutted, but send love to all her friends and family.

"I didn’t know her but the change she did for all of us… She went above and beyond in her role as presenter."
