Gmail now lets you schedule emails to send in the future

There's no need to worry about drafting that all-important email and then forgetting to send it any more as Gmail now allows you to schedule emails to send in the future.

With Google having celebrated the 15th birthday of Gmail this week various new features were designed to mark the occasion.

This includes a new feature that allows you schedule emails to be sent at a particular date or time in the future, the Mirror reports .

So if you're working across different time zones, or want to prevent interrupting someone when they're off on holiday the addition will come in quite handy.

There is, of course, the added bonus that it helps to give the impression that you're still at your desk when you've actually clocked off work early.

The new feature was introduced by the search giant on Monday and is expected to roll out worldwide over the next couple of weeks.

"We understand that work can often carry over to non-business hours but it's important to be considerate of everyone's downtime," said Jacob Bank, director of product management for Google's G-Suite in a blog post .

"We want to make it easier to respect everyone's digital well-being so we're adding a new feature to Gmail that allows you to choose when an email should be sent.

"Just write your email as you normally would then schedule it to arrive in your recipient's inbox at a later date and time."

Unlike some service providers Google doesn't require you to install updates so the new addition should simply just appear in your inbox over the next few days.

If you want to use it just type out your email and then click the new arrow next to the blue "send" button.

Next select "schedule send" and chose a date and time to send your message.

Scheduled emails will then show up in a "scheduled" folder and you will be able to edit or delete them any time before the deadline you've set.
