Gmail down as google users report major issues around the globe

Glaswegians are among frustrated users across the globe who have reported issues linked to Gmail and Google Drive.

Many of the problems being reported are centered on Europe, with the largest surge in reported issues taking place earlier this morning.

According to outage tracker site DownDetector, users in the UK began to notice connectivity problems from around 7:30am.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 43% said they were having problems with attachments, 32% couldn't log-in, and 24% couldn't receive messages.

The main issues with Google Drive seem to be file syncing, causing an estimated 68 per cent of all reported problems. The cause behind the difficulties is currently unknown.

A drop in Gmail connectivity has been reported by users all over the world, including in India, Australia and the USA.

Google says it is currently carrying out investigations on the reported disruption.
