Gmail down again for thousands of users for second time this week

Gmail is down again as thousands of users report issues with Google's email service.

It is the second night in a row the popular messaging service has struck a glitch.

Thousands of users including Gmail customers in the UK reported issues with sending emails at outage tracking site Downdetector.

Users reported emails bouncing back and trouble receiving messages.

Google has confirmed Gmail users are experiencing issues, reports the Express.

Outage maps suggested users in the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand were among those affected.

Users began reporting issues with Gmail at about 10pm GMT on Tuesday.

Some users were also reporting problems with Gmail's user sign-in services.

A statement on Google on its site told customers: “Our team is continuing to investigate this issue.

"We will provide an update by 12/15/20, 5:00 PM with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience.

"The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviour.”

Another message from the Gmail support team on Twitter also confirms that there is an outage, saying: “Our team is aware of this issue and working on a fix. Appreciate your patience.”
