GM Steve Keim sees fireworks when imagining Kyler Murray playing for Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim had a difficult decision to make this offseason with the number one pick in the draft. He made it, selecting quarterback Kyler Murray first overall a year after drafting Josh Rosen, a player he still believes in.

His instincts, though, said he couldn’t pass up on Murray after the evaluation process. He had to trust his instincts.

“I’m saying I had my real success, guys I’ve loved that have been great NFL players, based on instinct,” he told NBC Sports’ Peter King. “When I closed my eyes and I visualized Kyler Murray running around State Farm Stadium in red and white, for whatever reason, all I saw was just fireworks, excitement, a must-see [environment] where fans have to go and show up and see this thing. Him being the architect was a phenomenal fit for me.”

Keim said after the draft he has never seen someone with both such incredible throwing talent and running talent all in one. He is Russell Wilson but much faster.

Keim is betting his job on him. He is convicted. He believed Rosen could be a franchise quarterback. He is even more sure about Murray. He believes this young man is special.

His instincts need to be right because the franchise is counting on it.
