GM Mike Mayock and Raiders coaches arrive at new Henderson facility

It’s been some three weeks since the NFL gave the go-ahead for coaches for all 32 teams to return to their facilities. Many of them have been back since then. But not the Raiders. They had a small issue — they didn’t have a facility to return to.

Originally, they were supposed to remain at their headquarters in Alameda during OTA’s and not officially make the jump to their new facility in Henderson Nevada until after training camp. But with OTA’s and minicamp canceled due to the pandemic, and the NFL mandating that all teams hold camp at their own facility, they started the big move early.

The facility was still under construction, but their Alameda facility was gutted. That meant they were in limbo for a few weeks.

That limbo ended today.

The Raiders put out an image of Mike Mayock in a face covering arriving at the Henderson facility, with the words “Back to work.”

Mayock will be joined by all Raiders coaches as well as some player personnel staff according to a Raiders official.

According to NFL protocol, they don’t want the entire staff at the facility at the same time, to allow for sufficient social distancing.

The players are currently scheduled to arrive in late July, with camp to begin on July 28. Pre-camp warmup would begin three days earlier. There has also been discussion about potentially a week-long warm-up for the entire team to try and make up for having lost out on all offseason practices.
