GM Andrew Berry doesn't rule out Jadeveon Clowney signing with Browns: He is 'a good football player'

Browns general manager Andrew Berry said little but did not rule out the Browns' interest in free agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks.

ESPN reported on April 4 that the Browns were among those vying for the services of the three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher to pair opposite Myles Garrett.

Clowney, 27, was selected first overall in the 2014 draft by the Houston Texans, while the Browns chose Garrett first overall in 2017. Both are represented by agent Bus Cook.

According to the report, the Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and New York Jets were also interested.

"Jadeveon is a good football player," Berry said Friday during a 30-minute conference call. "It really goes back to something I mentioned maybe two months ago. Rest assured across all opportunities to acquire other players, we are going to be aggressive in adding talent to the roster. We are going to make sure if there is an opportunity to upgrade the team and we think it makes sense, we are going to be proactive there.

"I am not going to speculate on players who are not on our team, but we are actively always looking _ whether it is draft, free agency, trades, waiver wire or you name it _ to add players to our roster."

In 75 games (66 starts) over six seasons, Clowney has totaled 236 tackles (172 solos), 71 tackles for losses, 80 quarterback hits, 32 sacks and eight forced fumbles.
