GlowBowl: Turn your loo into a late night disco

Let's face it - no one likes getting up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night.

It's dark, it's cold and chances are you'll either stub your toe en-route or be unable to fall back to sleep for ages.

But when you gotta go you gotta go, and one company hopes to make the whole sorry process somehow fun - by recreating the dance floor of your favourite nightclub inside the porcelain throne.

GlowBowl is an American invention which proved a huge hit when it first appeared across online shopping sites like Amazon.

Discreetly and snugly fitting to the outside of your toilet bowl and emitting a disco ball of colours - blue, purple, aqua, yellow, red, white or green - whenever its motion sensor is activated.

It means you don't have to turn on the harsh main light in the bathroom whenever you need to answer a nocturnal call of nature.

And the device then switches itself back off once the user has returned to bed.

Plus, it also has a dimmer switch so you can pick the brightness level, as well as a handy built-in air freshener.

Some reviewers have credited the invention with really helping to encourage their kids with potty training.

"I purchased one for myself and after using it for a month I went out and purchased four more for my friends and family. Everyone loved it!," wrote one happy customer.

The only snag? It will set you back £75.90 plus postage.

However, there are cheaper variations on the market, which some rival models selling for as little as £4.69.

Websites like www.menkind.co.uk also sells a similar version called the Illumibowl - which first appeared on Sharktank, US TV's take on Dragons' Den - priced at £9.99.
