Gloucester star Danny Cipriani insists England exile is not due to any Owen Farrell disagreement

Danny Cipriani believes there is no reason why he and Owen Farrell cannot operate in the same squad as calls grow for the Gloucester fly-half to earn an England recall ahead of the World Cup in Japan.

Cipriani, who has racked up 13 assists for Gloucester this term, was crowned Premiership Player of the Season on Wednesday to add to his award of the Rugby Players Association’s Player of the Year.

Despite his fine form, the 31-year-old has not played for England since last summer’s tour to South Africa, but he has denied that is because he and Farrell have different views on how to play the game.

“Me and Owen get on really well,” Cipriani told the BBC.

“I can’t ever imagine someone being disruptive in an England environment like that because it just wouldn’t continue."

Cipriani will line up opposite Farrell on Saturday as Johan Ackermann's Gloucester head to Allianz Park to face European champions and double-chasers Saracens in the Premiership semi-finals.
