The last time I can remember finger painting, it was 1994 and I was in kindergarten. Fast forward to 2017 and I found myself finger painting once again, but this time with Glossier's new Cloud Paint blush ($18, www.glossier.com).
Perfect for anyone looking to unleash their inner Bob Ross, Cloud Paint is a finger-friendly gel-cream blush that claims to make applying color to your cheeks as easy as painting by numbers. Seamless, sheer and buildable, the cruelty-free product is designed to give the apples of your cheeks a beautiful, flushed glow that is natural and long-lasting.
FIRST IMPRESSION
With a name like Cloud Paint, it's not surprising that Glossier chose to package its new blush in miniature paint tubes. Each squeezable tube contains around 0.33 fluid ounces of product and is small enough to take with you in a purse or carry-on. Designed to be suitable for a wide range of skin tones, the blush comes in four flattering shades: Dusk (brownish nude), Puff (bubblegum pink), Beam (peach) and Haze (berry). Each shade reportedly was inspired by the gradient pink hues of New York City sunsets.
The lightweight blush features a gel-cream formula that is made with ingredients like collagen (perfect for plumping and moisturizing the skin) and blurring powder pigments, which create a seamless, streak-free finish. While the product can be applied with a brush if you choose, the Glossier website suggests dabbing a tiny dot of blush onto your cheeks with your finger and blending it out.
I found the blush to be more pigmented than I had expected, so you definitely must use a light hand when applying or else you run the risk of looking like a clown. The blush leaves behind a dewy finish that adds just enough glow, without leaving you looking shiny or greasy.
FAB OR FLUB?
Fab! With staying power that is sure to outlast the sweltering summer season, Glossier's Cloud Paint is a great way to add a pop of color to your cheeks.
The easy-to-use blush applies evenly to the skin and blends effortlessly with your finger or a brush to create a healthy, natural flush. While the product is designed to be used mostly as a cheek color, I found it also doubles well as a lip color (great for those times when you need a multitasking product).
If you are in the market for a new blush or just looking to experiment with some color, the new Cloud Paints are definitely worth checking out.
