A week of introspection has formed the basis of Perth Glory's bid to rectify an inconsistent start to the A-League Women season.
Glory host Canberra United at Macedonia Park on Sunday, still searching for their first win after battling to two draws from three games.
"The solutions are internal, it's inside our squad, and the answers are in hard work and being better," Glory coach Alex Epakis said ahead of their round-five clash.
"We've really turned the screws on our own expectations and our own individual performances this week.
"We've made it clear that if individually we're all better, the collective will be stronger. That's been the key focus.
"I didn't want to over-complicate it. I wanted it to be really clear, very simple.
"This is our opportunity to put together a 90-minute performance and really kick-start the season."
Perth and Canberra have forged a high-scoring rivalry over the years, with 25 previous meetings between the clubs producing 100 goals.
Their round-one encounter at United's McKellar Park this season finished 2-2, and Epakis believes his charges can go one better on home soil despite losing midfielder Sarah Cain through suspension.
"We know we are better than what we were as a team in that performance," Epakis said.
"We've improved in areas, they've improved in areas, but ultimately we've had a look at what they've done over the last couple of weeks and we're certainly ready for them.
"There'll be no surprises."
Canberra head west buoyed by a convincing 3-0 win over Wellington Phoenix last weekend, in which sharpshooter Michelle Heyman got off the mark with two goals.
The visitors will be without China international Wu Chengshu, who remains sidelined after suffering severe facial fractures in round two.
Defensive trio Kim Carroll, Bella Wallhead and Claudia Mihocic are all in contention to return for Glory.
