April 13--Producers of the new musical "On Your Feet" announced casting on Monday.
The show about the life of musician Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan will have its pre-Broadway tryout in Chicago this June before moving to the Marquis Theatre on Broadway in the fall.
Ana Villafane will play Gloria and Josh Segarra ("Lysistrata Jones") will play Emilio.
The cast will also include Andrea Burns as Gloria Fajardo, Alma Cuervo as Consuelo, Alexandria Suarez as Little Gloria and Noah Johnston as little Emilio.
Rounding out the ensemble are Felix Monge, Karmine Alers, Yassmin Alers, David Baida, Natalie Caruncho, Henry Gainza, Lee Zarrett, Linedy Genao, Carlos Gonzales, Nina Lafarga, Genny Lis Padilla, Omar Lopez-Cepero, Hector Maisonet, Marielys Molina, Doreen Montalvo, Liz Ramos, Eliseo Roman, Luis Salgado, Marcos Santana, Martin Sola, Brett Sturgis, Eric Ulloa and Tanairi Vasquez.
The musical will be set to Gloria Estefan's many popular songs, alongside a book by Alexander Dinelaris, who won an Academy Award this year for writing "Birdman." The show is directed by Jerry Mitchell ("Kinky Boots"), with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
"On Your Feet" begins performances at the Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., on June 2.
