Deadly defender Neil Slooves reckons he’ll have to wait a while for his next Irvine Meadow goal after bagging two in three days.
But the 24-year-old summer arrival is hopeful he’ll be around long enough to celebrate a few more after settling in at Meadow Park.
Centre-back Slooves, who scored in the 2-1 win against Rossvale last Wednesday and again in Friday night’s Marymass derby, is hoping for a period of stability after a few globe-trotting years.
He said: “I was in America for Uni and then in Iceland for a few years where I played for Njardvik. It's a different style here and It’s taken me a bit of time to adapt, but I’m enjoying it now I’ve had a few games under my belt.
"I'll probably go a few games without scoring but it's got to be in among the goals.
“Ideally, I want to stay with Irvine Meadow.
“We’ve got a good squad with good competition in every position. It drives everybody on.”
