Working in Partnership with the UK Public Sector
TCS has engaged increasingly with the UK public sector environment and has been trusted to deliver some very high-profile, technology enabled transformation programmes in recent years:
Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS)
TCS will support DBS in its modernisation programme, including the development of electronic applications. It will also help DBS to improve its customer experiences of online services. The company will provide end-to-end process, technology and operations support for an initial period of five years. DBS and TCS will also collaborate to update the organisation's business processes to help improve decision making and reduce processing times. TCS will also build a new integrated case management system to support seamless integration and information gathering between disclosure and barring services.
National Employers Savings Trust (NEST)
In 2010, TCS won a significant project with NEST to build, implement and operationally run a service to administer the next generation government pension scheme. Within an extremely challenging time frame, TCS has implemented a new pensions administration system, featuring a high degree of online self-service for citizens and has also set up an operational administration service, with the establishment of a UK customer service centre. NEST officially launched on October 11th 2011 and the scheme is expected to attract 7 million members, making it the largest defined benefits scheme in the UK.
Child Maintenance Group (CMG)
TCS is implementing a new business application to ensure that the correct level of child maintenance is paid efficiently and effectively to single parents. Our solution integrates the processes of case management, automated scheduling of payments, arrears management and civil/legal enforcement to significantly improve the quality of Child Maintenance Enforcement, whilst simultaneously lowering the delivery cost for this critical government service.
Cardiff Council
TCS is working with Cardiff to help implement its strategic transformation programme. TCS is providing enabling technology to improve Cardiff's internal back-office operations and to enable improved service delivery in the front line to the citizens of Cardiff. The partnership has already been proven to deliver quantifiable improvements in the back office and our joint focus is firmly on transforming citizen services.

TCS combines government specific domain expertise with a world class set of delivery capabilities to enable service transformation.

A Global Perspective
TCS brings unique insights, experience and capabilities gained from delivering major transformation programmes for governments globally. We seek to leverage this global experience and also best practice from other industry verticals, when delivering to the UK Public Sector to both reduce risk and bring a fresh perspective.
AP Online
For the state of Andhra Pradesh in India, TCS has developed the AP Online citizens' portal, enabling the state's 80 million people to access all state government services online. This was achieved in an environment whereby a significant proportion of the population do not have computer access, by providing 'AP Online' kiosks and via a franchise model with local businesses, to ensure access for all citizens.
Passport Seva
TCS manages the issuing of passports to a citizen base of 1.1 billion in India. TCS will process over 6 million applications in year 1, rising to an estimated 14 million in year 6 of operations. The programme will also catalogue, sanitise and store data for over 80 million current citizens. The service will be delivered through 77 facilitation centres (across 55 cities) that are being set up and operated by TCS. TCS transformed services from an entirely paper based process to a digitalised service, significantly improving processing times for passports from 1 month, to 3 days.
New York Department of Corrections
TCS is responsible for one of the most innovative uses of technology in public services, whereby for the probation service in New York we installed self-service kiosks, underpinned by a new casework management system, to allow low risk offenders to self register for probation for the first time. This enabled probation officers to devote more time to higher risk cases and statistically has been proven to reduce rates of re-offending.
