Travel restrictions have been reimposed in China’s capital Beijing to contain its new coronavirus outbreak.

More than 100 cases have been confirmed since Friday in a city which had seen none for 50 days.

Donald Trump has criticised US regulators after they revoked the emergency authorisation for malaria drugs championed by him for treating Covid-19.

The Food and Drug Administration said hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine were unlikely to be effective.

Citing reports of heart complications, it said the drugs’ unproven benefits “do not outweigh the known and potential risks”.

The health minister for India’s capital Delhi, Satyendar Jain, is to be tested for Covid-19 after being admitted to a hospital with a high fever.

With more than 40,000 confirmed cases, Delhi is among the worst-affected areas in India.
