The Valuable 500 business network has reached its target of getting 500 companies worldwide to commit to advancing the inclusion of disabled people in the workforce, according to the Nippon Foundation, which supports the initiative.
The initiative was launched in 2019 by Irish social entrepreneur Caroline Casey to bring about reforms in companies that will enable people with disabilities to realize their full potential.
The network includes 50 Japanese companies, including Kao Corp., Suntory Holdings Ltd., Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and The Yomiuri Shimbun, as well as U.S. giants such as Google LLC and the Coca-Cola Co.
Participating companies work together to support the development of products for people with disabilities, utilize inclusion indicators and create accessibility-related recruitment sites.
