Police have confirmed that the pilot who died in a glider crash this week was a man in his 90s who 'lost control' of his aircraft.
Cotswold Gliding Club said the two-seater glider crashed into playing fields at St Edward's prep school, Cheltenham on Wednesday (August 26).
The pilot received fatal injuries as a result of the incident while another occupant was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police have since released more information about how the crash took place and confirmed the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.
They also said that the other man was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "At 1.20pm yesterday (Wednesday, August 26), emergency services were called with a report that a glider had come down in Charlton Kings playing fields, Cheltenham.
"Upon attendance it was found that two men were flying in the area when their glider lost control and crashed.

The incident has been reported to the Civil Aviation Authority.
