March 14--The countdown has begun for Glenview residents Kaitlin Roseman and John West, who will be getting married less than two weeks after winning the "Today" show's wedding contest on Friday. When they learned of their win, "We were ecstatic," said West. "The other couples had amazing videos, and we knew the vote could have gone either way, but America chose us. We're so thrilled to be a part of this and have this opportunity."
Currently, West and Roseman are in New York, preparing to appear on the "Today" show several times this week to share details about their upcoming nuptials. Viewers will be asked to vote on all aspects of their March 24 wedding: the wedding dress, the rings, the cake -- even the honeymoon destination. Voting will take place on the www.today.com website.
How does the couple feel about having "Today" show viewers choose these all-important wedding details for them?
Roseman said they were relieved to have some of the burden of planning taken off their hands. "To me, this is a dream," she said. "We recently got engaged, and when I started going dress shopping and we began planning the other details, I was overwhelmed by all the choices... So, to have someone make the executive decisions for me, it was great. All we have to do is go along for the ride."
"It's hard enough for us to choose where we want to go for dinner tonight," West added.
West also said that some of the choices, such as the honeymoon destinations, "will be just as much a surprise to us as it will be to the audience."
Their wedding, which will take place at the Rainbow Room in New York, will be broadcast on the "Today" show to help promote the March 25 release of the Chicago-set film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2."
