Glenvale boss John Kelly heaps praise on strike duo as Paisley side fire up the table

Glenvale boss John Kelly paid tribute to his dynamic strike duo after they fired the Paisley side to their third win on the spin.

The West of Scotland League Division 4 side thumped Harthill Royal 3-1 on Saturday, backing up comfortable 4-1 and 2-0 wins over Harmony Row and Campbeltown Pupils respectively.

And Kelly believes the Paisley club’s fine form stems from his clinical and hard-working striker partnership of Ross Stevenson and Kamil Leszczynski, who both netted against Harthill over the weekend.

He told Express Sport: “It was a really comfortable win on Saturday.

“There were no stages in the match when we were toiling and I’d say it was our best performance of the season.

“That’s three wins on the bounce and four in our last five, so we’re definitely heading in the right direction.

“It’s still very early days but we’re bumping ourselves up the table and the camp’s very happy at the moment.

“Ross Stevenson has got six goals in his last three games and he’s in great form. His finishing is superb.

“Kamil (pictured below) got his first goal of the season on Saturday too and I was delighted for him too because he’s been working really hard up front.

“The way we play, our strikers need to work hard and they compliment each other very well.

“The two of them work incredibly hard and that’s infectious to the rest of the group. They set the standards and long may that continue.”

Next up for Glenvale, who now sit third in the Division 4 table behind Kilsyth Athletic and Finnart, is a trip to New Tinto Park to take on Harmony Row.

Kelly is delighted that their gruelling opening fixture list is finally starting to ease, with his side no longer facing Wednesday night fixtures.

He hopes that the lack of midweek games won’t disrupt their momentum as they look to continue to rack up wins.

Kelly said: “We’re down to just Saturday fixtures, which on paper should help us as we’ll have more time to prepare for games and get more training sessions in through the week.

“But when you’re winning games you just want the next game to come as soon as possible.

“I’m itching to get some good training sessions in but I just hope the break in games doesn’t kill our momentum.

“Fingers crossed it doesn’t and we continue in the rich vein of form we’ve found ourselves in.”
