Glentoran could be poised to sign Dee Fearon after the striker impressed during pre-season training with the club.
The 22-year-old is currently a free agent after helping Knockbreda survive the drop in last season's Championship.
The Glens are well into their pre-season campaign ahead of their Premiership kick-off against Glenavon on August 10 .
They are scheduled to play Comber Rec in a friendly this Saturday as they continue their countdown.
Manager Mick McDermott has promised more additions ahead of August 10, and striker Fearon could be one of those new signings.
He scored 17 goals in 21 appearances last season to help keep Knockbreda up.
He was previously with the Glens as a youngster before going on to play for clubs including Crumlin Star.
Glentoran aren't the only team understood to be interested, with Crusaders, Glenavon and Ards also believed to be keen on the striker.
Glens boss McDermott has already added Cameron Stewart and Jonny Frazer to his squad, and has promised to add more new faces ahead of the Premiership kick-off.
"Jonny unfortunately had a holiday pre-booked so he missed last week, and Cameron has looked good and we are more than happy," McDermott told Glens TV.
"They are two good lads.
"We will have more additions over the next few weeks. There will be changes and additions right up to the end of the window.
"We are under no illusions we need to strengthen and we will do that. We are actively looking."
