Glentoran confirm Conor Pepper exit ahead of expected move to Linfield

Glentoran have confirmed the departure of Conor Pepper with the versatile defender expected to sign for Linfield.

The Blues are understood to have agreed terms for the 26-year-old ahead of their Champions League qualifiers next week.

Linfield have already signed Coleraine goalkeeper Chris Johns on a pre-contract with that move expected to be rubberstamped before the Blues' August 8 opener in Europe against San Marino champions Tre Fiori.

They are also being linked with a move for Glentoran winger Navid Nasseri.

After Monday's Irish Cup semi-final win over Cliftonville, Glens boss Mick McDermott confirmed Pepper was moving on.

"The reality is Conor Pepper has been injured the last three weeks and he hasn't taken part in any friendlies and he's agreed terms with another club," he said.

"So there is no point having a player who is injured and is going to another club.

"Conor is a great lad, I've nothing but respect for him. I like him a lot. He's been a good servant for this club but we couldn't work out a deal to keep him at the club so he has moved on."
