Glenn Murray set for move after Nottingham Forest's failed January bid

Brighton striker Glenn Murray is on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest’s Championship rivals Watford.

The experienced 36-year-old close to a City Ground move in January, with boss Sabri Lamouchi keen on bringing the Brighton star in, but the Seagulls refused to sanction the deal with the Reds forced to look elsewhere.

A few months on, however, and it looks like Murray will be on the move, penning a season-long loan deal at Vicarage Road, becoming Vladimir Ivic’s first signing since taking over the club - with Sky Sports claiming he underwent a medical on Tuesday afternoon.

Murray, who signed a one-year contract extension at the Amex Stadium in February, scored twice last season in the Premier League, but netted 23 when the Seagulls won promotion from the Championship.

“Everyone knows what Glenn brings to the club, and he's an important member of the squad - on and off the pitch - and he showed that in abundance on Saturday at West Ham," manager Graham Potter said after the contract was agreed.

"I've always said he's got a big part to play here.

"He's happy and settled, he loves this club, and he's been the ultimate professional on and off the pitch."

Doubts, meanwhile, surround the future of Hornets captain Troy Deeney, with the striker linked with a move to West Brom and Tottenham.
