Glenn Middleton seals Rangers loan exit as winger returns to St Johnstone for remainder of season

St Johnstone have confirmed the signing of Rangers winger Glenn Middleton on loan.

The 21-year-old joins Callum Davidson's team for a second spell and will link up with his new teammates in the wake of their heroic draw with Galatasaray on Thursday night.

Middleton joined Rangers from Norwich in January 2018 but has struggled to make his mark on the first-team as they have grown into Premiership champions.

He had spent time on loan at Hibs and Bradford before joining Saints in January, where he became a key component of their famous double-winning side.

Middleton has played no part in either of Rangers' competitive games so far and he had been a key target for Davidson, who is looking to build on an historic season for the Saints last term.

Their draw with Galatasaray in Turkey was one of the biggest results in their history and they are dreaming of an upset win in Perth that would send shockwaves through the Europa League.

Whether they make it or not, however, having Middleton back in the side will be massive for their hopes in the season ahead.

He won't be registered for the second leg with Galatasaray but could feature against Motherwell on Sunday.
