Glenn Martens Is Hitting the Ground Running at Maison Margiela by Starting With Haute Couture

There are a handful of fashion houses known more for haute couture than ready-to-wear. Schiaparelli immediately springs to mind. Maison Margiela is also in this category with John Galliano's haute couture creations so grand, they eclipse their ready-to-wear relatives. So it makes total sense that Glenn Martens is kicking off his Maison Margiela tenure with haute couture.

He'll introduce the world to his vision for the brand during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, which is pretty much right around the corner. (It runs from July 7 to July 10 so if you haven't already, mark your calendar.) Coming in after Galliano isn't an easy task, but Martens has the chops. When he reigned over the now defunct Y/Project, his technique, skill and imagination were on full display. See the crinkled denim looks from Y/Project's Spring 2024 collection or the Fall 2023 offering's photographic prints. Same goes for Diesel.

We can't wait to see what the designer has in store.
