Glenn Hoddle will make his return to football punditry on Thursday night after recovering from a heart attack.

The former England manager suffered a cardiac arrest on October 27 which left him in a "serious condition" in hospital.

The BT Sport pundit was celebrating his 61st birthday in the studio when he suffered the heart attack and sound supervisor Simon Daniels had to perform emergency first aid before paramedics arrived.

But after undergoing heart surgery at St Bartholomew's Hospital and recuperating at his home, the former Tottenham man revealed he is ready to return to work.

Hoddle confirmed he would be returning to the studio to analyse Chelsea's Europa League first leg tie with Dynamo Kyiv on Thursday evening.

"On route to @ChelseaFC for my first game back and can’t wait," Hoddle tweeted.

"Looking forward to seeing @mrjakehumphrey and the rest of the @btsportfootball team.

The news was warmly received by several clubs and reputable members of the football world, including Hoddle's former club Chelsea, who tweeted their best wishes to the 61-year-old, saying: "Welcome back, @GlennHoddle!"

Hoddle last worked at QPR as a first-team coach before moving into punditry with BT Sport.
