Glenn Hoddle has questioned whether starting Harry Kane in the Champions League final against Liverpool was the right call.
The striker has not played since April when he was forced off with an ankle injury in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Fernando Llorente was the hero as Spurs progressed at the expense of the English champions at the Etihad Stadium.
In the semi-finals, Lucas Moura was the match-winner to beat Ajax in Amsterdam.
Hoddle would have preferred to see Kane on the bench.
"I would have loved to see him on the bench," he told BT Sport. "I think the pace of the game, if we were playing Juventus here today yeah Harry Kane would start, but the pace at Liverpool play at. The way they press.
"I’ll ask you another question. If it’s sixty minutes in you’re a little bit tired and you see Harry Kane warming up. If the game is still tight and there’s extra time. He’s not going to last the whole extra time."
