Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle offered a damning assessment of Spurs' performance as they were beaten 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Ajax.
The Dutch side were utterly dominant in the first period, with midfielder Donny van der Beek scoring the opener after just 15 minutes, while Spurs’ woes increased when Jan Vertonghen was forced off with a nasty head injury.
Spurs improved after the break, but Ajax still missed a great chance to all-but seal the tie as David Neres struck the post, and the home side ultimately ended the game without having forced Andre Onana into a testing save.
Speaking on BT Sport after the game, former England boss Hoddle lamented the performance – which came without top goal scorers Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, who were injured and suspended respectively.
"Very, very disappointing. No creativity, no width. It was a very lacklustre performance,” Hoddle said.
"They didn't move the ball quick enough.
"Yes they are missing some key players - Harry Kane and Son Heung-min - but it was still disappointing."
