Glenn Hoddle names Tottenham’s most important player – and it is not Harry Kane

Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Son Heung-min is Tottenham’s most important player.

The South Korean international scored his tenth goal of the season in all competitions for Spurs in the clash with Burnley this afternoon (Saturday).

It was a superb solo effort from the 27-year-old, who picked up the ball in his own half and raced clear of defenders before finishing past Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

His goal got Spurs fans and pundits alike purring, with Gary Linkeker taking to social media to claim that it was one of the “greatest individual goals” anyone is likely to see, adding that in his opinion, it was the goal of the season.

Peter Crouch: Mourinho is a 'breath of fresh air' for Spurs

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho was also full of praise for Son after the win against Burnley, with the Portuguese boss revealing the name that his son uses for Son.

Meanwhile, former Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle made a bold statement about Son when asked if he felt the South Korean star was Tottenham’s most important player.

“I think he is,” he said, speaking on BT Sport’s Score programme.

“He can score, he can create, and he is a finisher.”

Son’s strike against Burnley was the third of the afternoon for Spurs as Jose Mourinho’s men ran riot at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, eventually emerging with a 5-0 win.

Top scorer Harry Kane netted twice, with Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko also on target, in addition to Son.
