Glenn Hoddle makes exciting Carlos Vinicius prediction as Dele Alli's Tottenham fears explained

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Saturday, October 31.

Ray Parlour fears for Alli’s future

Ray Parlour says that he fears for the future of Dele Alli after the midfielder was hooked at half time in Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp.

Alli struggled to impress himself on the match in the first 45 minutes, with Jose Mourinho evidently unhappy with his performance. And Parlour says that this, alongside his general exclusion from the squad for the majority of the season, leaves him fearful for the 24-year-old’s future.

“I don't know where he goes from here,” he told talkSPORT. “You ask me why he's not being picked, that's why he's not being picked, because he's not performing.

Mourinho frustrated with players as Spurs lose out to Royal Antwerp

“His confidence is low. I think every footballer's gone through it, when you're having a bad time, and you've just got to keep training, working hard and hopefully your form will turn around but at the moment he's probably really low.

“And as I said before, it's an opportunity for players to come in and prove to the manager that they can do their job and put the pressure on the first team.

“It sounds like he [Mourinho] knows his first team, and the players that played last night are nowhere near that.”

Hoddle delivers exciting Carlos Vinicius verdict

Prior to him making his second appearance for Spurs on Thursday night, Glenn Hoddle delivered an exciting verdict on Spurs new boy Carlos Vinicius.

Tottenham signed the Brazilian on a season-long loan from Benfica in the summer. They have an option to buy that they can exercise next summer. And Hoddle believes Vinicius has made an excellent start to life in north London.

“He is the real deal,” Hoddle told BT Sport. “When he came over I think we weren’t quite sure.

“Twenty-five touches is not a lot in a full 90 minutes, but it was the impact he had with the ball. How he used the ball was sensational with his creation.”

Vertonghen tips Pochettino for Premier League return

Former Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has tipped Mauricio Pochettino to manage in the Premier League again.

Pochettino has not managed since he left Spurs almost a year ago, but Vertonghen believes that the Argentinian has the right skill set to succeed in English football again, suiting the style of football nicely.

“I can imagine he's impatient,” Vertonghen told CBS Soccer's Que Golazo podcast. “I think the English league suits him very well as he's a manager that prioritises fitness levels and the physicality of the game.

“I think managing in the Premier League is probably the best thing he can do. He will always want to coach a big team I guess, so you have to look at the biggest teams in the league and there are only two or three you can really look at I think at this point.

“I won't name them out of respect for the other managers, but I think that's what he's looking at as well and he wants that big team to confirm him what he's been doing with Tottenham and what he did very well.

“If I was him I would be impatient because he really loved his job and you want to continue that.”
