Former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle has questioned whether Eden Hazard has joined Real Madrid at the wrong time.
The Belgian international left Chelsea this summer to join Real Madrid in a deal worth around €100million, after seven years in west London with the Blues.
But he has failed to impress on his full debut for the Spanish giants in the Champions League this evening (Wednesday), with Real Madrid struggling to make an impact as his side fell 2-0 behind against Paris Saint Germain at the Parc des Princes.
Hazard cut an isolated and frustrated figure as Zinedine Zidane's men went behind to two Angel Di Maria strikes in France, with Real Madrid producing a flat first half display.
And speaking at half time as a pundit on BT Sport, Hoddle made a statement that is likely to get Chelsea fans talking.
"For many years you’d look at them and think they only want to play when they’ve got the ball," he said about Real Madrid.
"Collectively they don’t want to defend. Their midfield are loose. They let runners go, no one tracks anyone.
"That collectiveness as a team, they look as if they’re playing like individuals. I just worry that [Eden] Hazard has gone there at the wrong time.
